What a Success!

April 2, 2007

Saturday’s boat ramp cleanup was a success. Y’all didn’t know it would turn into a bush hogging session, did ya?!? ;) It’s amazing how much a group can accomplish by working together. The trailer. The chainsaw. The bags and bags of leaves… and then later, the beer. A big THANK YOU to everyone who contributed… we definitely could not have done it without you. And for anyone who had trouble sleeping over the weekend due to mosquito bites – we feel your pain!!

  1. Great Job Guys!!!!!

Now – how do we keep people that do not live here from using the ramp and taking up parking space so we locals can use the ramp. This past Saturday we watched someone throw a scummy soda bottle in the water and he had a fit when we requested he pick it up and put it back in his boat.

  2. Thank’s to all who participated. now how do we secure it Saturday afternoon there where six trucks with boat trailers, after I had a deputy check the address only one belonged to a Bayshore Resident. Very thoughtful of us to have one of the last free ramps in Hew Hanover county.

  3. Hey Guys! – I’ve lived in bayshore for several years now and have just found this site. it’s nice seeing all the community involvement that makes bayshore a better place to live.

now on to the boat ramp use issue. for a small fee to print and distribute, could we provide residence with ramp access stickers to distinguish residence form non-residence? i’m trying to get the brainstorming ball rolling on this issue. -alex

  4. I live on the edge of Marsh Oaks next to Bayshore and was wondering if its possible to pay a fee to use the boat ramp in Bayshore? Thanks Scott

  5. I think the idea from Alex in Oct.2007 was something to think about. A small fee to cover the cost for ramp access use stickers would be a good idea to help identify those who are residents. I don’t own a boat but HEY you never know.

  6. Apparently, the question surrounding the boat ramp use has never been fully resolved; i.e., who has the right to access it. Given it is not deeded to anyone in Bayshore, the only one that has legal right to the property would be the original developer and current owner, Bill Cameron. I would start there. Bayshore residents have no right to collect use sticker fees unless granted that right by the owner of the property.

  7. [...] to expect. Those who helped out last year know this is a lot of fun as well as a big help. Please click here to see photos from last year. I would love to see double participation this [...]

  8. How about we don’t allow anyone to park there? Use it only as a boat ramp and park at your house. Understanding this would be a slight inconvenience to us, but it would certainly limit the out-of-community users and ensure the ramp and street wouldn’t get clogged up with parked trailers. Just a thought.

  9. I think my point was missed; nobody has the right to park on that property unless they get permission from the owner, let alone clean it up. Maybe the owner likes it just the way it is…

  10. Non-Boater-

Thanks for your post. Last year when we organized the boat ramp cleanup, we approached Cameron Management and they were pleased that we had put together the event. They even pitched in some money to help with a few things that we did.

  11. Wonder why the realtors are advertising “Deeded Water Rights”, when selling properties?

  12. The property owner is just as responsible for the listing accuracy as the real estate agent that advertises it. If it is not in your deed, then you don’t have “deeded water rights”. RE agents probably don’t do proper due dilligence before listing property.
